First Cases of Oropouche Fever Detected in Germany
Detected in Saxony and Baden
The first two cases of Oropouche fever (OF) in Germany have been registered in the states of Saxony and Baden.
Both individuals contracted the virus while visiting Cuba in late June and developed symptoms while still abroad.
Oropouche fever is a mosquito-borne illness spread primarily in South America. Symptoms typically include fever, headache, muscle aches, and joint pain.
The German health authorities are currently investigating the cases and implementing measures to prevent further transmission.
